Steve Curtis is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Prescribing Psychologist in New Mexico. He completed his dydactic training for prescriptive authority by completing a Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology (MSCP) at Alliant University. He then completed his physical assessment training required initial prescribing clinical hours, and a Prescribing Psychologist Fellowship in the Family Medicine clinic at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. Dr. Curtis primarily provides psychological and prescribing services to children, adolescents, and young adults with neurodevelopmental challenges. This clinic is the site of the Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency program. The clinic provides services to a diverse patient population with primarily Medicaid insurance. Dr. Curtis continues to provide services at Memorial Medical Center in private practice at the Lohman Atrium Suites in Las Cruces.
Dr. Curtis is accepting referrals for medication management for pediatric patients residing in New Mexico. The patient must have a current primary healthcare professional and a recent physical examination to provide services. Dr. Curtis specializes in prescribing or deprescribing psychotropic medication to pediatric patients with neurodevelopmental challenges, such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, behavioral challenges, depression, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder.
Dr. Curtis is one of over 300 prescribing psychologists nationwide. Prescriptive authority for psychologists (RxP) is now legalized in seven states, including New Mexico, Louisiana, Illinois, Iowa, Idaho, Colorado, and Utah. He is a member of the Washington State Psychological Association (WSPA) RxP task force. Dr. Curtis is also the President of the Society of Prescribing Psychology (Division 55) of the American Psychological Association (APA). He has taught psychopharmacology to doctoral students in the PsyD Clinical Psychology program at Antioch University, Seattle (APA Approved) for over 10 years.
